Sequential procedures based on the modified Savage statistic are proposed for testing the equality of two survival distributions when observations are singly censored. Asymptotic properties, including expected sample sizes and power against contiguous exponential scale shift alternatives, are examined. Comparison is made with procedures based on a modified Mantel-Haenszel statistic (Muenz, Green & Byar, 1977).
