The integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) into education has significantly transformed English language teaching and teacher preparation processes. In the context of globalization and rapid technological development, future English language teachers are expected to possess not only pedagogical and linguistic competence but also digital literacy and AI competence. This article examines the importance of digital literacy and AI competence in English language teacher education and analyzes their role in enhancing teaching quality, learner engagement, and professional development. The study discusses the theoretical foundations of digital literacy, the pedagogical potential of AI-powered educational tools, and the challenges associated with technology integration in teacher education. The article also highlights the necessity of incorporating digital and AI-related competencies into teacher training curricula to prepare future educators for modern educational environments. The findings indicate that effective integration of digital technologies and AI can contribute to more interactive, personalized, and learner-centered English language instruction.
