The article analyzes the role of Mikhail Mikhailovich Speransky in strengthening the national security of the Russian Empire. The article includes historical examples confirming the effectiveness of political reforms and describes their impact on national security, including the consequences of the war of 1812 and the Decembrist uprising in 1825. The comparison of the political courses of emperors Alexander I and Nicholas I, their impact on domestic and foreign policy, the abolition of serfdom and the development of military settlements is carried out. The structural and functional changes proposed by M.M.. Speransky, as well as their influence on the governance and political stability of the Russian Empire are analyzed. Special attention is paid to such reform initiatives as the development of an "Introduction to the Code of State Laws", the creation of the State Council and the reorganization of ministries. The role of finance in ensuring the security of the state and the balance of interests of all segments of society is shown, the contribution of M.M. Speransky to the creation of a regulatory framework and organizational structures aimed at financial management and control, which undoubtedly contributed to the economic and social stability of the state, is considered. The measures proposed by Mikhail Mikhailovich to combat corruption and strengthen financial auditing in the regions were also highlighted, the importance of examining and analyzing financial documents to identify criminal acts of that time was emphasized, as well as the importance of conducting accounting and forensic examinations. The authors emphasize that the legacy of M.M. Speransky remains relevant for modern Russia in the context of reforming socio-economic institutions and combating corruption.
