In recent years, the area of knowledge management (KM) and organizational learning has received much attention by both researchers and practitioners. The complexity of KM stems from the need for organizations to have a systematic and integrated approach to build the learning processes, culture, technology infrastructure and performance management needed to define, use and develop knowledge-related assets. The integrated approach, once in place, can have a great impact on the overall organizational systems and performance. This study explores this impact based on an empirical survey of Kuwaiti organizations. The study looks at both the concepts of KM and learning organizations. Several interesting findings are reported, together with detailed discussions based on the literature of their implications for research and practice.
