Respondents identified in a representative community sample as alcoholics, persons with chronic stomach trouble, and persons with 'neither pathology were re-interviewed with their spouses in the current study. Women in the alcoholic and comparison groups were asked a series of childhood symptom questions about their children. More symptomatology was reported for the children of alcoholics, corroborating the frequent general observations about the detrimental effect of parental alcoholism on children.
Paul W. Haberman (Sun,) studied this question.
