The short-circuit behavior of Type 3 (doubly-fed asynchronous) and Type 4 (full conversion) wind turbine generators is complex and not well accommodated by conventional short-circuit analysis techniques. The short-circuit current characteristics of these machines are described, and various techniques for performing short-circuit analysis are presented.
