This report deals with the empirical data gathered during the fieldwork phase of the CJP. The fieldwork consists of interviews with a range of stakeholders and role-players involved in socio-economic rights cases, from Judges to applicants to public servants; from Advocates to focus groups with members of communities who may have been affected by the judgments. Below, the report expands on the methodologies used throughout the life of the project, as well as activities and plans for the final phases of the project. As already established, the existing scope of the research is broad for its scheduled implementation period of 18 months. In addition, many suggestions have been made at the project colloquia held in February and November 2014; by interviewees; and by members of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee of Justice to expand the scope of the research project to include civil and political rights, as well as an analysis of the decisions of the high courts. These possibilities need to be further explored between the research team and the department.
