The current stage of the international relations is characterized by the aggravation of the geopolitical competition among the global centers of power. These contradictions are obviously shown in the political information sector. It is important to reveal the effective media strategies that will have a signifi-cant effect on the establishment of the agenda in various regions of the world in terms of the actual Western monopolization of tools for forming and expressing the world opinion. This is exemplified by the Chinese policy on the increase in influence re-sources of soft power in this regard. Media are one of its key components. Therefore, a relevant re-search task is, first, to identify the Chinese specific nature of the soft power in its foreign policy; and, secondly, determine the focus areas of media to perform priority tasks of the PRC’s foreign policy.
