Utah State University Extension’s Agriculture and Natural Resources Department addresses challenges affecting agricultural productivity, resource sustainability, and food security across Utah. In 2025, the department implemented a comprehensive, research-based approach integrating agronomy, livestock management, horticulture, water efficiency, and natural resource stewardship. Programs were delivered through applied research, field demonstrations, workshops, and innovative technologies such as drone-assisted monitoring. Outcomes include increased crop yields, reduced input costs, and improved grazing efficiency, generating millions of dollars in economic impact for producers. Market development efforts expanded revenue opportunities, while volunteer and community-based programs strengthened local food production capacity. Natural resource programs improved water management, supported large-scale ecosystem restoration, and enhanced collaborative land stewardship. Collectively, these efforts demonstrate measurable improvements in agricultural profitability, environmental sustainability, and system resilience. The broader public benefits through a more secure food supply, stronger rural economies, and improved stewardship of Utah’s land and water resources.
