Optimal fetal growth and development requires the potential mother to be in a good state of physical and emotional health both prior and during the time of pregnancy. To adequately support foetus growth and development, a mother must possess adequate knowledge regarding the growing foetus, changes that occur within, from conception to safe delivery of precious treasure besides general state of health. To assess the knowledge and compliance regarding factors affecting fetal growth and development among antenatal mothers.2 A descriptive research design was adopted to accomplish the objectives of the study. A total of 100 antenatal mothers others was selected using convenience sampling technique in selected hospitals of Kamrup (M) Assam. Self- structured knowledge questionnaire and compliance checklist was used as a tool to collect data through self-reporting technique. The collected data was analysed and interpreted using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study revealed that out of 100 antenatal mothers most of them i.e., 11(11%) had adequate knowledge, 55(55%) had moderate knowledge, 34(34%) had inadequate knowledge. The Compliance of mother regarding factors affecting fetal growth and development was assessed by using self-structured Compliance checklist and the result obtained revealed that out of 100 mothers, majority 81(81%) had good compliance and only 19(19%) had moderate Compliance and none had poor Compliance regarding factors affecting fetal growth and development. Even though mothers were regularly following antenatal advice and health recommendations, their understanding of the underlying factors influencing fetal growth and development was not completely adequate. Therefore, the investigator recognized the need to enhance maternal knowledge through structured health education, counselling, and reinforcement during antenatal visits. Strengthening knowledge will further improve compliance, encourage positive health behaviours, and contribute to better maternal and fetal outcomes.
