An investigation of the Estonian Biobank and the UK Biobank has identified more than 88,000 associations between more than 8,000 genomic regions and metabolic traits. The combined size of the sample enabled the detection of many more associations than in previous efforts. The study has enabled the discovery of associations with genetic variants present in only 1 in 10,000 individuals.
