The absorption lines in the spectrum of the large-redshift QSO 4G 05.34 are reported, and a preliminary analysis is . Evidence is found for five separate absorption-line redshifts, all of which are less than the emission-line value. The distribution of absorption lines is striking in that essentially all unidentified lines are located on the short-wavelength side of the La emission line. A probable explanation of this effect is discussed.
