Abstract Questionnaires returned by 207 graduate business students suggest that their academic ethics are similar to those of undergraduates as reported in the literature. Eighty percent had engaged in at least 1 of 15 unethical academic practices more than infrequently in graduate school. However, no relationship was found between the ethical behavior and attitude of graduate business students and student characteristics, a relationship that has been found in studies of undergraduates. The unethical graduate student was seen as wanting a high grade but not having or taking the time to prepare adequately to earn it, believing no one is hurt by his or her behavior, and seeing little chance of getting caught.
