A variety of studies have been made of the energy spectrum of cosmic ray muons. For energies up to 1000 GeV magnetic spectrographs have been used and at higher energies indirect measurements have been made. Inconsistencies between the results of the various experiments have been reported and these are the subject of the present paper.
