It is an honor and a pleasure to participate with Ed Lindblom in this conference. Ed has just ended a very important kind of diagnosis of impairment in our capacity to initiate social change. Lindblom, as usual, tackles some of the most profound questions in our society, indeed in all societies. He calls for more than incremental change. He calls for major rethinking and reengineering of features of our society. I agree with much of the diagnosis, but I have some doubts about what actions to take in response.
