This article features an annual community event that brings families, students, and neighbors together to create and share floral arrangements in celebration of Valentine’s Day. Participants design one arrangement to take home and another to donate to individuals receiving mental health support–blending creativity, kindness, and sustainability. The event, organized in partnership with local nonprofits and a land-grant university, offers a space for gathering, reflection, and giving back. Through shared activity, families reported strengthening their bonds and participants described feeling uplifted and connected to their community. This article shares what made the event meaningful to participants and offers tips for Family and Consumer Sciences professionals interested in creating similar programs that encourage relational connection and civic engagement.
