Medical images are ubiquitous images among all images around us. Due to the expansion in the use of medical images and growing resolution and size of medical images, medical image processing became the subclass of image processing and this field is continuously gaining the attention of researchers all around the world. There is a need to handle medical images for better diagnostic purposes and this gave rise to cope up with the techniques of image processing like data mining and machine learning together. Data mining and machine learning techniques gave rise to use the computer-based application in the diagnostic purpose for better, reliable and fast diagnosis of patient, detection of lesions, change detection and more important better therapy and diagnosis planning. In this paper various data mining and machine learning techniques are given which are used in the field of medical imaging.
