【Abstract】 This paper is a comparative examination of short-term study abroad (STSA) program research and student feedback from participants of two separate STSA programs at the author’s university. Short-term study abroad programs (1 week to 3 months) are the most common program length for Japanese students (MEXT, 2024). Previous STSA research was examined and outlined. Then student feedback was presented from a twoweek program and a six-week program. An analysis of the student feedback aligned with previous research in areas of cross-cultural understanding, increased self-awareness, academic performance, and potential career direction. However, student feedback differed from previous research in terms of understanding of other students from differing backgrounds. The paper concludes with a look at potential further study.
