Neutron scattering has long been used in condensed matter research as one of the most powerful techniques to study the arrangement and fluctuations of atoms and magnetic moments. Since the operation of J-PARC and the restart of JRR-3, it has become easier to perform neutron scattering experiments in Japan without traveling abroad. We present the two authors' travel report to ORNL(HFIR) to show advantages in performing experiments in ORNL and discuss some challenges that domestic facilities need to overcome.
