Key Points
To explore the electrophysiologic characteristics of cells throughout the left ventricular wall and identify the presence of M cells.
Cells from the left ventricular wall of human hearts were electrophysiologically characterized.
Action potentials and conducting properties of these cells were analyzed to determine the presence of M cells.
Evidence supports the presence of M cells in the left ventricular wall, with distinct electrophysiologic properties.
M cells exhibit unique action potential profiles compared to surrounding cardiac cells.
