Intensive long-term evaluation and individualized treatment of deviant blind children was introduced at an outpatient psychiatric clinic. The approach included child therapy, environmental manipulation, parent treatment and eventual placement in special classes. Results regarding the therapeutic relationship, impact upon the family and the ego growth observed in these children are discussed.
