What do you do when a woman you are accompanying in labour seems to be making little progress? I suppose the answer to this question must depend on the stage of her labour, and how you are measuring it. There has been plenty written about the necessity of ensuring that a woman is in the active phase of labour before using a partogram, so that she doesnt appear to be plodding endlessly along at some soul destroying pace when in fact she isnt really in established labour.
Soo Downe (Fri,) studied this question.
