SUMMARY One hundred and one children (56 with and 45 without deficits in attention, motor control and perception (DAMP)), originally diagnosed at six or seven years of age and belonging to a representative cohort of children from the general population were followed up at 16 and 17 years of age. There was a significant excess of substance abuse, fractures and other accidents in the DAMP group than among controls, in addition to more motor co‐ordination problems, clumsiness, and height and weight problems. Mean complex visuat reaction time was significantly longer in the DAMP group, accounted for by the number of boys in the group. It appears that 10‐year outcome for children who had attention problems and clumsiness during the preschool period is considerably poorer than for those who did not have such problems. Lebcnsjahr nachuntersucht. In der DAMP Gruppe fanden sich signifikant haufiger visuelle Reahtionszcit war bei den DAMP Kindern signifikant länger. bedingt durch die Anzahl von Jungen in der Gruppe. Es Scheint, daB der OUtcome nach 10 Jahren bei KIndern, die in der Vorschulphase Aufinerksanikeits‐ und Koordinationsprobleme hatten, wesentlichter schlechrer ist 31s bei denen, die diese Probleme nicht hatten. Habia un significativo esccso de abuso de substancia. fracturas y otros accidcntes en el grupo DAMP en relacibn con los controles, ademas de mas problemas de cresimiento y de peso. El promedio de tiempo de la reaccion visual compleja era significativemente mas larga en el grupo DAMP. teniendo en cuenta el nuniero de varones en el grupo. Se deduce que el curso a dicz a˜nos vista de los ni˜nos con problemas de atencion y torpeza durante el period0 prescolar, cs considerablenient m˜as pobre que el de los niilos sin este tipo de problemas
