The Nicene Creed (325) is a symbol of faith and, as such, is part of the history of Christian creeds that were developed in early Christianity. Symbols of faith were composed on the basis of credal formulas in the Bible, mainly for baptismal use. The Nicene Creed has the form of such a symbol, into which additions against the Arian doctrine were inserted. The article analyses Christology of the symbol of Nicaea together with its anathemas.
