This paper presents power electronics for different renewable energy and distribution generations with focus on photovoltaic, wind, and fuel cell because these areas have shown dramatic progress and great potential for market penetration. The main contents include fundamental source characteristics, circuit topologies, control techniques, and architecture of the entire power conditioning system for different generation systems. Distribution generation interconnection standards compliance and essential grid-tie control techniques, particularly synchronization, proportional-resonant controller, and admittance compensation will be discussed as the common subject for different systems.
