Gender sensitisation in schools is essential for building inclusive learning environments where all students feel respected, valued, and empowered. Children’s early perceptions of gender are shaped by classroom interactions, textbooks, teachers, and peer relationships, making schools critical spaces for challenging stereotypes and promoting equality. This paper examines the concept, need, and significance of gender sensitisation by highlighting how gender-neutral practices, inclusive curricula, and teacher attitudes influence students’ understanding of fairness and diversity. It emphasises the role of gender-sensitive pedagogy, co-curricular activities, and digital learning tools in nurturing empathy, critical thinking, and respect for all gender identities. The paper also analyses the challenges schools face, including cultural norms, insufficient teacher training, biased textbooks, limited parental support, and inadequate infrastructure for gender-diverse learners. By addressing these issues through collaborative efforts among teachers, parents, policymakers, and communities, schools can cultivate environments that promote human rights and social justice. Ultimately, gender sensitisation emerges as a lifelong value that shapes students into responsible, equitable, and socially conscious citizens, contributing to a more just and inclusive society.
