This paper analyses the contextualisation of grammatical discourse in FFL teaching in Chile, through an examination of a locally-based grammar and university practices. Contextualisation is understood here as a reformulation aimed at adapting grammatical description to the linguistic and cultural needs of an audience sharing the same mother tongue in order to make discourse more accessible and relevant to a given audience. A cross-analysis of a local FFL grammar and teaching practices observed at the University of Concepción shows that, although both sources use contextualisation, they do not always employ the same processes, highlighting both limited convergences and significant divergences.
