Ayurveda is an old system of health that started in India over 5,000 years ago. It is called the "science of life". The main idea of Ayurveda is to keep our body, mind and environment in balance so that we can stay healthy. This is different from treating diseases when they happen. Ayurveda has some principles that are very important. These are Tridosha, which includes Vata, Pitta and Kapha, Prakriti which's our individual constitution, Dinacharya, which is our daily routine and Ritucharya, which is our routine for different seasons. This paper looks at how these principles can be used with science especially with something called Ayurgenomics. There have been studies that show Ayurveda can really help prevent diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. The World Health Organization thinks that traditional medicine, including Ayurveda is very important for keeping everyone healthy and reaching the Sustainable Development Goals.
