FINDING: E8 root system projects to 3D icosahedral vertices via golden ratio distances, linking 240 roots to quasicrystalline cut-and-project from 8D to 3D. MATH: - E8 root system: 240 roots in 8D, 6720 edges. - 3D projection yields icosahedral vertices: 12 vertices of icosahedron, each at distance ratios derived from golden ratio φ = (1+√5)/2 ≈ 1.618. - Icosahedral coordinates: (0, ±1, ±φ), (±1, ±φ, 0), (±φ, 0, ±1) — all distances scaled by φ. - Fibonacci chain spacing in quasicrystal: uses golden ratio continued fraction convergents (1/1, 2/1, 3/2, 5/3, 8/5, …) to generate plane sets. - Cut-and-project method: 8D lattice (E8) → 3D subspace via irrational slope (φ-related) yields icosahedral quasicrystal with diffraction peaks at positions indexed by φ.
