Taking into account the necessity of existence of the arts in education, that is the subjects of aesthetic education (Music, Drama, Visual Arts) and their crucial contribution to the extension of not only the limits of knowledge, intellect and thought, but of communication and understanding as well, the present work proposes an interdisciplinary approach to the music class, which seeks to mobilize and spur students’ interest through the presentation, discussion and critical review of popular music with a view to their aesthetic awakening and creating critical reflection on issues related to the musical creation, such as the question of the spiritual value of musical works, the subjectivity of aesthetic judgement and the role of the music industry in the commercialization of the art of music.
