(Abstracted from JAMA Network Open 2025;8(3):e252498) Following the 2022 US Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization , many states imposed bans on or severely restricted abortion. In Wisconsin, an 1849 state statute, which has been interpreted as an abortion ban, imposed criminal penalties on providers who perform an abortion, except in cases in which the mother’s life is in danger of death.
