The paper examines the communicative dominants of the sports internet discourse on figure skating, which is a thematic variety, or sub-discourse, of the sports discursive space. The aim of the study is to identify the specifics of the system of communicative tonalities characteristic of the sports internet discourse on figure skating. The scientific novelty of the study lies in considering tonality as one of the communicative dominants of the sports internet discourse on figure skating, shaping the pragmastylistic peculiarity of media texts on the Sports.ru website. The spectrum of communicative tonalities of the sports internet discourse on figure skating and the linguistic means of their representation are identified. The results showed that the communicative dominants of the internet discourse on figure skating are aggression and conflict, which is partly due to the active use of the “us – them” dichotomy. The enthusiastic, laudatory tonality accompanies texts based on the image of “us”; the agonality of sports discourse (by analogy with political discourse) is reduced to the struggle with “them”, their discrediting. The conflict component becomes one of the communicative dominants of the sports internet discourse on figure skating.
