This article examines a current research topic and a popular type of modern tourism — gastronomic tourism. The topic of gastronomic tourism in Russia has become very attractive today. More and more products are being offered in this direction by tourism business entities. It is noted that the current stage of gastronomic development in Russia was characterized by rather different attitudes towards public catering and the restaurant business. It is emphasized that a significant surge in the development of this sector of economic activity can be correlated exclusively with an increase in the quality and standard of living of Russians. People began to spend more money on better quality and more varied food products, which is absolutely obvious today. Russians also began to prefer not only to relax at seaside resorts, but also to increasingly show interest in traveling, where they offer a unique opportunity to taste national and regional cuisine, farm products, etc. The so-called gastronomic tourism is becoming increasingly popular among the country’s population every year. The article uses various sources, including scientific articles, information materials of government ministries and departments, travel sites, etc. Based on the results, the necessary conclusions and recommendations are made. The authors believe that the potential of gastronomic tourism should be used more intensively, using modern means of digital and mobile communication, and innovative marketing tools. For the development of gastronomic tourism in our country, it is important to expand the possibilities of providing unique gastronomic delights and combinations and informing about them.
