Abstract In the present work, the production of (1620) ^- Ξ (1620) - in the K^- p K - p scattering process is investigated by using an effective Lagrangian approach, where (1620) ^- Ξ (1620) - is considered as a K^- K - Λ molecular state. Our estimations indicate that the cross sections for K^-p K^+ (1620) ^- K - p → K + Ξ (1620) - are (1. 48 ^+ 1. 12-₀. ₆₉) \, b (1. 48 - 0. 69 + 1. 12) μ b at PK=2. 8 \ GeV P K = 2. 8 GeV, where the uncertainties are resulted from the variation of the model parameter. As for the K^-p ⁰ ^- K^+ K - p → π 0 Ξ - K + process, the cross sections are estimated to be (0. 61 ^+0. 47-₀. ₂₉) \, b (0. 61 - 0. 29 + 0. 47) μ b at PK =2. 87 \ GeV P K = 2. 87 GeV, which is consistent with the experimental measurements.
