Natural resource extraction in Equatorial Guinea has been a subject of significant economic importance but also political controversy. Qualitative methods including semi-structured interviews with key informants were employed to explore local perceptions and experiences related to resource exploitation. Key themes emerged regarding the uneven distribution of benefits among communities and government officials, highlighting significant disparities in wealth accumulation. The study underscores the need for more equitable governance practices that prioritise community welfare alongside economic development goals. Policy recommendations include establishing transparent resource management frameworks to ensure fairer distribution of profits from natural resource extraction.
