A geophysical (magnetometer) survey was carried out over a 0.25 hectare area, south-east of Sandwick, Orkney, KW16 3JB (hereafter referred to as 'the Site') in advance of the construction of a single dwelling and garage. The survey was requested by the Orkney Islands Archaeologist in response to the application for Planning in Principle for the Site (OIC Planning Ref: 24/123/PIP). The geophysical survey identified several anomalies across the Site that may be archaeological in nature, particularly as there are numerous prehistoric sites in the immediate vicinity of the Site. Without further investigation, however, it is difficult to be more definitive about their nature or function.
