Retaining Children:Is it the Right Decision?

Abstract I retained a child once. This review of current research makes me shutter at the harm I may have done Robert. I wanted to give him the year I thought he needed to mature. I wanted to protect him from the tremendous academic pressures he would have experienced the next year. Perhaps I only helped to make him an educational statistic. What are the alternatives for the Roberts in your classroom and school? How successful are these alternatives?—C.V.
