Synthesis and scale-up optimization of electrocatalysts for OER based on LaMnδNi1-δO3 perovskites

Developing efficient and low-cost electrocatalysts is essential to improve the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in alkaline anion-exchange membrane electrolysis (AEMWE). This work describes the optimized synthesis and 10 g scale-up production of La–Mn–Ni perovskites using microwave-assisted combustion. Structural analysis confirmed the trigonal R-3c phase at all scales. The LMN10C sample exhibited the most favorable microstructure: 16.3 nm crystallites, homogeneous particles ranging from 12 to 29 nm, high conductivity (26.5 S cm −1 ), and a surface area of 48.8 m 2 g −1 . LMN10C achieved 300 mV at 10 mA cm −2 , a Tafel slope of 34.6 mV dec −1 , and the lowest polarization resistance (36.3 Ω). After 8 h, its stability demonstrated a current drop of less than 1%. The method reduced the evaporation-combustion stage duration by ∼98%. These results position LMN10C as a promising catalyst for AEMWE.
