Abstract Issues like reduced solar and wind power have grown more prevalent in new energy bases as the result of the massive grid connection of new energy sources. Therefore, the present investigation provides an energy storage capacity optimization model based on enhancing the transmission capability of new energy bases in order to build up the transmission capacity of these bases and improve the integration rate of high-proportion new energy grids. It first builds a model for the transmission capability of fresh energy and examines the variables impacting the transmission power of the new energy bases. The best configuration of energy storage capacity is then obtained by constructing a power storage capacity optimization model based on enhancing the transmission capability of new energy, which aims to increase the consumption of new energy by minimizing the curtailment rate. Lastly, simulated examples are used to confirm the efficiency of the recommended energy storage capacity optimization strategy.
