CPAP adherence in patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome
Key Points
Good adherence to CPAP was noted, with most patients using the device for at least four hours daily.
Frequent associations were observed between obesity and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in the participant group.
Adherence levels suggest effective management of obstructive sleep apnea, emphasizing the importance of CPAP therapy.
Limited data reflect the significant role of obesity, indicating a potential area for intervention in patient management.
Abstract
Treatment for severe obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) involves continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), with a recommended minimum use of four hours per night. This study aimed to analyze treatment adherence among patients diagnosed with severe OSAS. Data from these studies revealed a frequent association with obesity, the main comorbidity, and also indicated good adherence to CPAP, with most participants using the device for at least four hours per day.
