Abstract

The article presents proposed reinforcement solutions for the steel structure of the main nave of a gymnasium that was under construction. During the erection of the structure, the contractor raised concerns regarding the adequacy of certain structural solutions specified in the design documentation. A site inspection and a preliminary review of the project documents confirmed the presence of design deficiencies, such as a lack of continuity in the chords of the truss girders, insufficient capacity of some connections, and incorrectly designed bracing systems. These flaws led to violations of both ultimate and serviceability limit states of structural elements. As a result, it became necessary to develop reinforcement measures and to incorporate the contribution of the roof cladding into the overall structural performance.
