The article proposes to deepen scientific understanding of the problems and opportunities for ensuring economic security of commercial banks arising in the current conditions in the digital finance sector in the Russian Federation. The research methodology is based on a combination of conceptual and comparative analysis methods, quantitative statistical research methods, socio-economic forecasting and foresight. The aspects of ensuring economic security of commercial banks in the context of the introduction of the digital Ruble are disclosed. The problems and opportunities for ensuring economic security of commercial banks in the context of the development of the digital financial assets market in the Russian Federation are considered both as providers of information services to operators of investment digital platforms and as issuers and/or investors in digital financial assets. It is concluded that the involvement of Russian commercial banks in the digital economy and the fintech sector will occur within the framework of the implementation of the digital Ruble project and in the segment of digital financial assets. In the latter, commercial banks will compete with each other and with new fintech companies for the role of infrastructure service providers but will also gain access to financing as issuers of digital financial assets and wide investment opportunities with moderate investment risks and relatively high expected returns. The study presents key considerations for ensuring the economic security of commercial banks in the digital finance sector while achieving the required (high) level.
