Imaging Microstructural Parameters of Benign and Malignant Breast Tumor in Patient Using Temporal Diffusion Spectroscopy

Motivation: To evaluate the the capability of quantative microstructural mapping for characterizing cellular properties of breast tumors. Goal(s): Investigate the feasibility of the time-dependent diffusion using OGSE sequence in clinical applications of breast MRI. Approach: Diffusion MRI data were acquired with a combination of OGSE and PGSE. The microstructural parameters and the ADC values were calculated. The mean values of each parameter were compared between malignant and benign tumors. Results: All the microstructural parameters, ADC0Hz, ADC25Hz and ADC50Hz were significantly difference between malignant group and benign group. All the microstructural parameters achieved high accuracy in differentiating between malignant and benign tumors of the breast. Impact: The time-dependent diffusion MRI parameters have the potential to evaluate the microstructural characteristics of breast lesions and serves as a non-invasive tool to probe tumor pathologies in both benign and malignant breast lesions.
