The purpose of the work was to consider the scientifi c approach to the use of basic feed, various types of oil cake, and secondary raw materials of the sugar beet industry in the rations of highly productive cows. The need to maintain the structure of the feed when organizing the feeding of highly productive lactating cows has been considered in the work. Traditionally, hay was used in the rations of cows to maintain the structure. Today, most farms of the EcoNiva company use haylage for this purpose, but when it is impossible to maintain the structure of the feed due to haylage, straw is used. The use of straw in the rations of fresh cows prevented the displacement of the abomasum, in the rations of cows of the highly productive group it contributed to the improvement of rumination an increase in daily milk yield from 32 to 34 kg, the savings in feed costs per 1 kg of milk amounted to 1.06 rubles. When using straw in the rations of cows of the high-yielding group up to the optimal level of fi ber, milk productivity increased to 35 kg of milk, against the on-farm ration of 34 kg of milk, the savings in feed costs per 1 kg of milk amounted to 1.74 rubles. The economic effi ciency of including the most expensive ingredient, soybean oil cake has been considered in the paper. The savings in feed costs on the ration with soybean oil cake per 1 kg of milk amounted to 0.28 rubles, against the ration with sunfl ower oil cake. When using sugar beet pulp and molasses in the rations of cows, the milk yield from 1 kg of dry matter increased the cost of the ration decreased. The savings in feed costs per 1 kg of milk when using the ration with sugar beet pulp and molasses amounted to 0.71 rubles relative to the ration without them.
