In January – October 2019, a salvage excavation was conducted on the eastern slope of the City of David hill, near Warren’s Shaft and the Gi h on Spring (Permit No. A-8445; map ref. 222447 – 541/631157 – 228; Fig. 1 ). The excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and funded by the Elad association, was directed by O. Chalaf and J. Uziel, with the assistance of N. Nehama (administration), Y. Gur-Arieh, Y. Carmeli and N. Mizrahi (supervisors), V. Essman (surveying and drafting), A. Peretz, S. Halevi and C. Harati (photography), Y. Regev and E. Boaretto (microarchaeology and radiocarbon dating) , O. Bejarano and S. Halevi (photogrammetry) and H. Biton (map). The soil from the excavation was wet-sieved at the Z urim Valley National Park.
