The genus Heteronychus Dejean, 1833, encompasses 60 described species with a broad distribution across the Afrotropical, Australian, Neotropical, Palaearctic, and Oriental regions. This study contributes to our understanding of the genus in India by examining previously unidentified Heteronychus specimens housed at the Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata. Our analysis confirmed the presence of all the three currently known species in India: Heteronychus annulatus Bates, 1891; Heteronychus lioderes Redtenbacher, 1868; and Heteronychus sublaevis (Fairmaire, 1891). To facilitate accurate species differentiation, we have prepared a revised key to Indian Heteronychus species, mapped their distributions, and provided photographs of both the habitus and aedeagus.
