In 2012 – 2014, three underwater excavation seasons were conducted at the harbor of ‘Akko (Permit Nos. A-6557, A-6829, A-7120; map ref. 206964–7015/758445–92; Fig. 1), with the aim of collecting data on the Hellenistic harbor quay . The excavations, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and funded by the Old Acre Development Company, the Ministry of Tourism, the Israel Land Administration and the OceanGate Foundation, were directed by J. Sharvit and D. Planer from the Israel Antiquities Authority’s Marine Archaeology Unit, B. Buxton from the University of Rhode Island and J. Hale from the University of Kentucky, with the assistance of S. Ben-Yehuda (GPS, drafting, plans and finds drawing), S. Phelps (donor and volunteer), students from the University of Rhode Island, students from the departments of Marine Biology and Marine Geosciences at the University of Haifa’s School of Marine Sciences, and volunteers.
