In January–February 2013, a salvage excavation was conducted near the Ḥ ame Yo’av spa resort (Permit No. A-6682; map ref. 170276–436/616817–7054), prior to construction. The Excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed by the owner of the spa, was directed by R. Avner. A. de Vincenz studied the ceramic assemblage, A. Ganor the clay lantern, T. Winter the glass finds, R. Kool the coins and the lead seal, and Y. Nagar the human remains. The excavation yielded a winepress, two cist graves and a building dated to the Byzantine period; the accupation of the site may have continued into the Early Islamic period.
