The value of IoT technologies has been recognized in all fields that deal with real time data processing and transmitting, acquired and processing using sensors. The IoT has affected the modern lifestyles by connecting physical devices and enabling intelligent, data-driven interactions in everyday life. IoT based applications has been widely applied in many spheres viz. water resource management, smart homes, smart cities, healthcare, agriculture, logistics, smart grids etc. Water is the most essential and basic needs of living being to survive. The inability of water resource system to meet the diverse needs for water often reflects failure in planning, developing and management and decision making. Water Resource Management is an activity of planning, developing, distributing and managing the optimum use of water resources. The advancement of Information and Communication Technology has significantly adopted for management of water resources. In this literature survey, we studied the work carried-out by the various researchers about the uses of IoT (Internet of Things) technology for water resource management.
