New Media as a Controlling Factor of Political Processes in Russia

The paper presents experts’ forecasts of an aggravation of information warfare in the conditions of transforming the existing world order. The importance of new media as the major source of information for news and political content in the ongoing digitalization of all spheres of human activity is growing. Virtual network communities now serve as both content distributors and coordinating centers for managing political processes, including both positive and illegal content. This trend is fully characteristic of the Russian Federation, where the Telegram messenger plays a special role.
